Following the a successful Saturday for the Railsplitters that saw LMU jump to No. 12 in the national NCAA D-II men’s polls, it was back to work. Monday, we had the weekly game management meeting to discuss the upcoming game against Tusculum on Thursday. The game will be televised locally on WYMT. Due to the game being televised, we decided to clear the back parking lot and close the road earlier than usual. We also decided to locate signs inside the upper level of the gymnasium to ensure people will not due their daily walks during the game.
Security was also addressed during the meeting. On Wednesday, several individuals made their way past police and entered the stadium on the lower level. Police officers weren’t at their post prior to the game, which allowed this to happen. Security understood the issue and agreed to do a better job at policing the area before the game. The only people allowed in the lower entrance are game personnel and the L-Club.
Mentioning the L-Club, the main point discussed in the management meeting was the use of the hospitality room. On Wednesday, I picked up enough food to feed 150 people. The L-Club has 130 people in the L-Club, which the hospitality room is reserved for. The room opened at halftime of the women’s game, and the food was gone before the men’s game began. The issue with the food was people piling their plates full instead of being cognizant of others. Matt Green explained the room’s intent was for people to get a small meal in between games and not for a substitute dinner. The key fix to solve the issue was to have a server present.
Pending on the weather, I will go in on Thursday at 9 a.m. to start preparing for the televised game. I will then come back at 4:00 to finish preparations.
