Today was a bitter sweet day. I have now reached the end of my mentorship at LMU. My last event was a doubleheader in lacrosse against Coker. Ironically, it was senior day where we saw four seniors compete for the last time on the home field.
Unfortunately, both the men and women lost their match-ups. The men lost in a back and forth battle, 12-9. The women couldn't find anything offensively and finished the regular season with a 23-10 loss. I preformed my normal duties as a spotter - recording and radioing penalties for the press box.
As my mentorship comes to an end, I can't believe how quick it was over. It feels like yesterday that I was asking Matt if I could do my internship at LMU and now it's over. While it was difficult to complete a mentorship and work a full-time job, it was a fun and informative experience.
From time to time I did odd and in jobs, but I learned much from just observing how Matt interacted with players and donors alike. Sitting in meetings and listening to how games are managed will go a long way in helping me in the future.
Of all the events I covered, nothing was more fun than watching the men's basketball team work their way to a National Championship appearance. That fact that the Southeast Region was hosted by Lincoln Memorial was that much better. I had the opportunity to see how such a big event was managed and operated.
This is definitely an experience I will never forget.
