About Me
I was born and raised in Tazewell, Tennessee. At a very young, I became interested in sports. I started by playing baseball when I was seven and eventually moved on to basketball when I was 9-years-old. In high school, I began playing football and quickly became a student of the game. I went on to be a three-year starter and captain. I also played baseball and participated in track while in high school.
After graduating from Claiborne High School, I moved on to Maryville College to play football. After a year in the program, I decided to concentrate on my studies and moved on from the program. While in college, I worked at the Blount Today - a bi-weekly newspaper - covering sports in the area. Blount County, Tennessee has a rich tradition of athletics. This gave me the opportunity to work with some great coaches. After graduating from Maryville College, I began working as a reporter for the Middlesboro Daily News in Middlesboro, Kentucky. In a short period of time, I became the senior staff writer for the newspaper. The position was later renamed newsroom manager. After working at the newspaper for four years, I was named the sports editor. I have worked in that capacity for nine months. During my time at the newspaper, I have learned many skills including time management, editing, interviewing, and many others. I am now completing my MBA in Sports Management at Tiffin University, where I have a 3.79 GPA. I am currently interning at Lincoln Memorial University, where I will be working alongside athletic director Matt Green, assistant athletic director Cameron Whicker and director of sports communication Scott Erland. The main goal I have for the internship is to learn the ins and outs of running an athletic department. Throughout the internship I plan to learn more about fundraising, marketing, pubic relations and creating promotions for an athletic department. My future goals include working in a university athletic department or in a professional organization. |
