On Wednesday, the Railsplitters will square off in a double header against Anderson University. The women’s game begins at 6 p.m. with the men’s starting directly after. Today, we had our weekly game management meeting to discuss preparation for the event. There will be three promotions during the game.
The event will be beach party themed with students encouraged to dress up in beach costumes. At halftime of the men’s game, there will be a raffle for a free trip. There will also be a hula-hoop contest with the winner taking home a $50 gift card.
Staffing was also discussed during the meeting. With the basketball season already underway, the majority of the staffing had already been decided. Safety concerns during the event were discussed.
As for my responsibilities during the event, I will be tasked with picking up food for the hospitality room, which opens at halftime of the women’s game. Cam stated that I would be working alongside him throughout the course of the game, yet details were not discussed. We will be playing it by ear once game day arrives.
Following the meeting, it was time for me and the graduate assistant to prepare flyers to distribute around campus. The G.A. already had the posters and door-hangers designed, so we had to go to the print shop to have them printed. After the posters were printed, we had to get the posters signed off on by the dean of students. Door-hangers were distributed to student-life coordinators, who were responsible for distributing them around campus. Posters were then distributed to different locations on campus, and the day we done for me.
Up next, Anderson.
